There’s still doubt about whether Rafael Nadal will be able to play at Roland Garros later this month.

Wednesday, Carlos Moyà visited La Salle in Palma, Mallorca, where he gave a talk to its students. From there, Rafael Nadal’s coach spoke about his pupil and the chances of him competing in Roland Garros.

“Nothing has been decided yet,” Moyà said regarding Rafa’s participation in Paris, as reported by Diari de Mallorca.

However, he admits that they knew it would not be an easy path to this point.

“He is competing, the results are not the usual, but he is fine, he is happy. It is not what we are used to, but I also knew that it was a very difficult process,” he added.

“Now the attempt is to make progress this week, the idea is to be at Roland Garros next week. The goal is to take it day by day because that’s how the conditions are,” the Mallorcan stated.

Later, in statements to IB3 Televisió, Moyà referred to Nadal’s preparation: “We are going slowly, getting into competition, trying to find rhythm. He’s coming from far back, with various injuries over these months… It’s clear he lacks a bit of competition rhythm, but he won’t get it because there are no more tournaments. Everything that can be trained and add quality time on the court will help. There has been an evolution from Barcelona physically, mentally, but especially in having certain guarantees to withstand a five-set match.”
