Having not competed since 2022, Darren Till will finally return to action. But this time it will be in the boxing ring.
The former UFC fighter is preparing to make his professional boxing debut against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., a former champion in the sport, at an event headlined by the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight, scheduled to take place in July in Texas (USA).
This information was released by Netflix, the streaming service that will broadcast the event, and by ‘Most Valuable Promotions’, the YouTuber’s company, on Wednesday (15).
The fight will last six rounds and will be held in the up to 86 kg category. Since leaving the UFC, Till has expressed a desire to venture into boxing. Known in MMA for his striking skills, the British fighter can now fully exploit this ability without worrying about defending against takedowns.
In his career, ‘The Gorilla’ has won 18 fights, ten of them by knockout. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 38, will face a mixed martial arts fighter for the second time. Previously, the former boxing champion lost to Anderson Silva.
Darren Till’s MMA Record
Darren Till, aged 31, is going through the most delicate phase of his fighting career. The Brit has lost three consecutive fights and has won only one of his last six bouts.
In MMA since 2013, the athlete has a record consisting of 18 wins, five losses, and one draw. In 2018, the European had his best professional moment when he competed for the UFC’s welterweight (77 kg) belt. His major victories were against Donald Cerrone, Kelvin Gastelum, and Stephen Thompson.
