The golf star’s new clothing line has not received the warmest welcome across the USA, which he likely hoped for after his split from Nike.
The long-standing partnership between Tiger Woods and Nike ended earlier this year. The 48-year-old American had been sponsored by the iconic sports brand for more than 25 years.
After the split with Nike, Tiger Woods switched to playing in his own brand, which he has named Sun Day Red. The sports legend’s clothing collection became available to the public last week, and the reception has been less than enthusiastic.
Specifically, Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red has been criticized across the Atlantic, and most the criticism is regarding the prices of the new collection.
“The prices for Tiger Woods’ brand Sun Day Red are so outrageously high that golf fans are deeply frustrated,” USA Today reported
A look at the collection includes t-shirts, caps, polos, pants, and sweaters. But the criticism doesn’t stop at USA Today, and it is not only the prices that people aren’t really satisfied with.
“It’s a huge mistake, when it should be so simple,” sports attorney John Nucci wrote on the social media platform X.
Overall, it is mostly the pricing that people across the USA are unhappy with, but also the fact that they tried to be “too unique”.
“They tried to be too unique and set the price beyond the general population’s limit,” former professional golfer Daniel Brent wrote on X.
Expectations are that Tiger Woods will return to the golf course later this month, when the season’s second major – the PGA Championship – takes place.
Here, Woods will have to try to return to his former level, which has proven difficult for him in recent years. He has been significantly hindered by injuries, making it hard for him to perform.
