Antonio Cassano criticized the Portuguese coach, who was dismissed from “I Giallorossi” in January.
Former footballer Antonio Cassano praised Roma’s decision to dismiss José Mourinho and to hire Daniele De Rossi, who has revitalized the Italien club (10 wins – the latest against rival Lazio – and only two losses in his first 15 games in charge).
Speaking to Rai, Cassano said, “As a coach, Mourinho is completely finished, he can’t manage anymore. He has been doing the same thing for 10 years. He didn’t let Leandro Paredes play and preferred Edoardo Bove over Lorenzo Pellegrini.”
Since the Portuguese’s departure from Roma, both Paredes and Pellegrini have criticized Mourinho’s coaching methods.
“De Rossi has given Roma the conviction that it is a strong team; he is doing an extraordinary job. He is a coach destined for great things,” concluded Cassano.
Thanks to this recent streak of positive results, the Giallorossi are competing for 4th place in Serie A, which qualifies for the Champions League – they are three points behind Bologna.
There have been many rumors about what the future holds for Mourinho. Among these rumors, there’s speculation that he might return to either Manchester United or Chelsea, both of which could potentially be looking to replace their current managers.
What seems more likely at the moment is that the Portuguese star coach will accept an offer from a Saudi Arabian club.
There’s also significant interest in him there, meaning he could likely choose between several different clubs.
