The UFC president highlights the Irish star as a great business partner.

Conor McGregor was injured in July 2021 during his third fight against the American Dustin Poirier. Since then, the Irishman has yet to return to competition, and these nearly three years away from the UFC octagon are becoming eternal for many.

Despite the current uncertain situation, UFC president Dana White has mentioned on numerous occasions that his biggest star is one of the best business partners he has ever had. Indeed, McGregor is undoubtedly the fighter who has done the most for the recognition of mixed martial arts (MMA) and the UFC on a global scale.

However, in a recent interview on the Lex Fridman podcast, the UFC executive did not hesitate to highlight the “only flaw” of the athlete.

“Conor McGregor has been an amazing partner to work with. If Conor showed up on time, there would be nothing bad I could say about him, you know what I mean?” White said, according to 20minutos.

“If you put a gun to my head, and you said, ‘Don’t lie, you son of a bitch, tell me all the bad things about Conor McGregor.’ I would say the guy doesn’t show up on time. That’s it. If Conor McGregor showed up on time, and sometimes he does, sometimes he does, it would be… he’s been a great partner,” explains the UFC president.

During the interview, Dana White also acknowledges the professionalism of ‘Notorious,’ who has never taken advantage of his popularity to claim more benefits, nor has he asked for compensation when they have had to change opponents at the last minute or any other type of unforeseen event.

The date of McGregor’s return remains a mystery, although in recent days some light has been shed on the issue. His future opponent, the American Michael Chandler has assured that the UFC has confirmed their fight will take place this summer.

The fight between Chandler, a former champion of the Bellator promotion, and the Irish star is a year overdue. Both fighters acted as coaches on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter in 2023, and the season was expected to close with their fight.
