The Irish MMA star will fight Michael Chandler on June 29 in his highly anticipated return to competition.
The return of fighter Conor McGregor to the UFC octagon is one of the most anticipated events of the year for MMA fans. The Irishman, who has not competed for nearly three years since he was seriously injured in July 2021 during a fight against Dustin Poirier, now has a date set for his next fight.
It will be on June 29 (early morning of June 30 according to Peninsula time) against Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Tickets for the event have already gone on sale and, despite the exorbitant prices, all UFC records have already been broken.
Dana White, UFC president, confirmed in the press conference after UFC Saint Louis that, so far, $20 million has been raised from the advance sale of tickets for UFC 303.
Although there are six weeks until the big event and McGregor has yet to set foot in the T-Mobile, the Irishman is already making history once again.
McGregor’s Numbers
UFC 303 has already surpassed the previous evening with the highest revenue in UFC history. As expected, it was another event led by the Irish star, the UFC 205 card. On that occasion, ‘The Notorious’ won the lightweight belt against Eddie Alvarez, and the UFC pocketed $17.7 million from ticket sales.
But McGregor not only holds the UFC’s ticket sales records, he is also the king of pay-per-view. Indeed, the Irishman features in eight of the top ten best-selling pay-per-view events in the company’s history.
At the top of this ranking is UFC 229, where ‘Notorious’ faced the formidable Khabib Nurmagomedov in an attempt to reclaim the lightweight belt; it achieved 2.4 million PPV sales.
