Barcelona Responds to Sevilla Regarding Ansu Fati

Barcelona views his move to Sevilla positively from a sporting perspective, but has asked the forward’s father and the Seville team for more time due to the economic complexity of the operation.

In recent days, the possibility of Ansu Fati joining Sevilla as a star reinforcement for the next season has emerged strongly, although it is a very complex operation due to the economic limitations of the Seville team in affording the versatile forward’s salary.

The news has surged following statements from his father, Bori Fati, who revealed to ABC his son’s interest in returning to the club where he was trained, stating that “he would be crazy to return”.

“Sevilla FC is a very big club, hopefully, it can be this summer,” he said, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Additionally, as Estadio Deportivo revealed this Sunday, Bori Fati is in constant contact with Víctor Orta and the president, José María del Nido Carrasco, with the intention of facilitating a return that would obviously be in the form of a loan.

The problem lies in the fact that Fati earns 12 million euros gross at Camp Barça, and Brighton, the club to which he moved on loan last summer despite previous discussions with Sevilla, covers 80% of his salary. But that is completely unfeasible for Sevilla’s precarious financial situation.

Given this, the stance that Barca adopts on this matter is crucial, knowing that their finances are also not currently able to pay a high percentage of his salary. However, Sevilla would be the ideal club for him to increase his market value ahead of a future transfer, considering his contract ends in 2027.

In this regard, the Blaugrana club, in response to their interest, has asked Sevilla and the player’s father for time to delve deeper into an operation with endless nuances and which would require all parties to make an effort, especially in the monetary aspect.

In this way, the Barca directors have scheduled further discussions for after the season ends, which aligns with the statements made by Xavi in the press conference before the clash with Real Sociedad.

In the same vein, he stated that they would study the matter at the end of the course, while requesting not to be asked further about Ansu Fati, who, despite not expressing it clearly, is not in the plans for the 24/25 season.

“It’s time to think about the end of the League. We will decide at the end of the season depending on the situation we are in,” Xavi said, and continued: “Don’t ask me anymore.”
