John Fury ended up with blood on his forehead after headbutting a member of ‘Team Usyk’. The scene occurred after a press conference with the champions.
We already knew that John Fury, father of Tyson Fury, loves to stir up tensions in the days leading up to his sons’ fights, and that he sometimes ends up stealing the spotlight with the dramatic scenes he likes to create.
This time, he went a bit further and ended up with blood on his forehead after headbutting a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team, according to Marca.
The incident occurred after a press conference featuring Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, ahead of the fight in which both will compete for the honor of becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion.
During the event, ‘The Gypsy King’ had already been involved in a verbal dispute with his rival’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, and after the event, John Fury approached ‘Team Usyk’ and it all ended with the assault.
Later, the Fury patriarch apologized through the channel ‘Seconds Out Live’: “My sincere apologies to everyone involved. This is just how we are. Emotions and tensions are running high and he was very disrespectful. If you invade a fighter’s space, these things happen. What matters to me is respect for my son, and this person was showing none of that. He mentioned my son, and that’s as far as it goes, so this had to happen. I don’t mind [the bleeding]; it’s what we live for, we’re fighting people. It’s something that happens to me often.”
