Not only has Ralf Rangnick recently turned down FC Bayern, but Roberto De Zerbi and Roger Schmidt have also made it clear that they will not be available this summer. Now, Zinedine Zidane has commented on the ongoing rumors linking him to Bayern.
Zinédine Zidane has repeatedly been mentioned as a potential successor to Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern in recent weeks. At one point, there were even reports suggesting that the Frenchman was close to signing on at Säbener Straße.
However, Sports Director Max Eberl has firmly denied these claims, stating that there have been no discussions between him and the 1998 World Cup winner.
Zidane has no interest in the Bayern coaching job
The 51-year-old himself appears to have no interest in coaching the German record champions.
Zidane was in Miami over the weekend attending a Formula 1 event and was questioned about the ongoing rumors. When a Sky reporter asked if he would become the new head coach at FC Bayern, he simply replied, “No,” according to TZ.
Zidane added, “But I will watch the game,” referring to the upcoming Champions League return match between Bayern and Real Madrid.
Zidane shows support for Real Madrid
The former Real coach is rooting for his old club: “Hopefully Madrid advances. But it will be a tough game.”
In addition to Zidane, Bayern can also cross Julen Lopetegui off their list. The Spaniard is close to reaching an agreement with West Ham United.
