Chelsea’s board is working on the idea of signing at least three players during the summer transfer window. The Blues are looking to recruit a new goalkeeper, a winger, and a center forward. The name of Jordan Pickford is now gaining traction for the goalkeeper position.
Although their convincing victories in London derbies against Tottenham (2-0) and West Ham United (5-0) have managed to put a smile on their fans’ faces, Chelsea is set to end the 2023-2024 season with a rather bittersweet taste.
The Blues have not performed at the desired level and, at best, will have to settle for participating in the Europa League next season.
To try to turn things around, the board is already working on the idea of strengthening several positions within their squad this summer.
Despite their investment of more than €460 million in the last two transfer windows not yielding the expected results, the club’s leaders seem ready again to dig into their coffers to recruit at least three new players.
New option for the goalkeeper position
According to Football Insider, their plan includes signing a goalkeeper, a winger, and a center forward. For the goalkeeper position, there has recently been talk of high-caliber players like Slovenian Jan Oblak (Atlético Madrid), Polish Wojciech Szczęsny (Juventus), and English Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), but the list of candidates does not end there.
According to the same source, those at Stamford Bridge are also considering casting their net for Jordan Pickford (30 years old), who is on his way to completing his seventh season with Everton.
The Toffees, having secured their stay in the Premier League, will not facilitate his departure and will condition his exit on the payment of a high fee.
