Aware of the need to find a top-level footballer who can contribute with a number of goals due to the departure of Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Germain has set its machinery in motion. And a new option emerges on the horizon.
Kylian Mbappé is spending his final days at Paris Saint Germain. The French striker will leave the French team to join Real Madrid with a free transfer.
Although he has not managed to win the Champions League with the French club, his departure will leave a significant void in the squad of the Ligue 1 champions, especially in the offensive sector.
Thus, the Parisian hierarchy is working on securing a top-level replacement to fill the gap that Mbappé will leave.
Various prominent names have emerged as potential signings, from Victor Osimhen to Rafael Leão, including the return of Xavi Simons or even a costly gamble on Lamine Yamal.
A new piece on the agenda
Now, the newspaper Le Parisien reveals a new option to strengthen the spearhead for the 2024/2025 season. Specifically, it involves the prolific Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, a 25-year-old who is having an outstanding season at Sporting de Portugal (27 goals in 31 matches).
As has been reported, Gyökeres, who is also a target for other top teams like Atlético Madrid, is valued at no less than 100 million euros.
However, the Lisbon club is not very inclined to allow his departure next summer due to his importance.
Therefore, it might prove difficult for PSG to acquire the Swedish star after this season. If the Portuguese club insists on not selling him, the Ligue 1 club may be forced to explore other options.
