FC Barcelona May Say Goodbye to 17 Players This Summer

A summer of numerous changes is being prepared at FC Barcelona. The team plans to finalize several acquisitions, although the exit door is also wide open.

As is usual every summer, FC Barcelona will be one of the main players in the transfer market. The Catalan team has a substantial list of potential additions to its roster, while also focusing on departures. In fact, El Desmarque reports that a total of seventeen players are poised to leave the club.

Although, obviously, not all will depart, the plan in this regard is quite significant, and movements once the season ends will be noteworthy.

One of the first to pack his bags will be Marcos Alonso, who has been a secondary figure since his arrival and whose physical issues have barely allowed him any prominence. The club also does not count on loanees Sergiño Dest and Clément Lenglet, who spent this season at PSV and Aston Villa, respectively.

A summer of movements

Youngsters Julián Araujo (UD Las Palmas) and Álex Valle (Levante) will have the opportunity to do the preseason with the Blaugrana, but they will be loaned out to new destinations if they fail to impress Xavi.

Real Betis will exercise the purchase option on Moroccan Chadi Riad, although it has not yet decided whether to keep the player or later arrange a sale, of which fifty percent would belong to the Catalans.

Cases like Pablo Torre and Ansu Fati, who have not had the expected impact at Girona and Brighton and are not initially counted on for the coming season, deserve special mention. In fact, the only loanee who might return to play is Eric García after his outstanding performance at Girona under Míchel.

Several players with bags packed

For Portuguese internationals João Cancelo and João Félix, the only chance they have to stay at the club is if their loans are extended, as the financial constraints of the entity do not allow much room for maneuver despite their importance.

Another name to watch is Ronald Araujo, who could potentially generate significant economic benefit in case of a sale and would not be held back in case of a colossal offer despite his undeniable importance to the structure.

In the midfield, the previously mentioned source also notes that doors would not be closed to Frenkie de Jong and Pedri if lucrative offers arrive, although this seems surprising given what the Spanish international means to the team.

Raphinha’s future is also not set due to interest from several Premier League teams, while the plan with Robert Lewandowski, who will turn 36, is for him to leave, similar to Oriol Romeu, whose arrival last summer has been regretted.

Lastly, it remains to be seen what Barca will do with young talent Vitor Roque, who has not been given the opportunity to shine despite more than 60 million euros invested in him between fixed fees and variables.
