Tom Brady consented to participate in Netflix’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time,” yet a specific joke appeared to cross the line for the former NFL star.
An early highlight from the comedy special that caught everyone’s attention featured the seven-time Super Bowl winner, Tom Brady, rising from his seat to whisper something to Jeff Ross.
Ross, known as the “Roastmaster General,” was on stage to roast Brady when one joke in particular seemed to annoy the former football star.
The joke in question referenced Brady’s initial selection by the New England Patriots as the 199th overall pick in the sixth round of the NFL draft.
“So Tom became a Patriot and moved up to New England, and on the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft’s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?'” Ross joked, according to Deadline.
As the audience responded to the insult, the camera focused on Brady, who appeared uneasy with the remark. Ross then turned to Kraft, who was present in the audience, and greeted him by blowing kisses.
“I love Robert Kraft, I….,” Ross said before Brady approached him and whispered: “Never say that sh** again.”
Ross complied with Brady’s suggestion and noted that Kraft was “enjoying himself” at the roast.
In 2019, Kraft and others were implicated in a solicitation case as part of an investigation into anti-sex trafficking at various Florida massage parlors.
The misdemeanor charge against the Patriots owner was eventually dismissed after courts ruled against the admissibility of video evidence secretly recorded by police within the parlors.
The roster of roasters featured comedians Bert Kreischer, Tom Segura, Nikki Glaser, Andrew Schulz, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Sam Jay, along with former wide receivers Randy Moss and Julian Edelman, quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe, and tight end Rob Gronkowski.
