Statements in the F1 paddock always have their highlights. This time the French Alpine driver unwittingly became the subject of a meme in Miami.
Carlos Sainz was penalized, and Sergio Pérez benefited by finishing fourth in the Miami Grand Prix. The Spanish driver criticized the Mexican’s start, which nearly resulted in a crash with Max Verstappen, but it did not lead to any penalties.
According to Fox Spors, the Ferrari driver also criticized the organization for its inconsistency in issuing penalties: “Today, for some reason, they let us fight more than usual, I don’t know why; I took note and did the same as what was done to me, being more aggressive,” Sainz said, and complained about Oscar Piastri, who repeatedly blocked him.
With that context in mind, the image of Pierre Gasly offering his impressions in the paddock (where drivers speak to the media) caught attention.
During Gasly’s statement, Sainz and Checo were seen behind him, exchanging ideas and making corresponding gestures.
In the scene, a slight smile from Alice Hedworth, the communication manager of Red Bull, was seen, which fans made viral on social networks and attributed a particular dialogue to the shot, which was obviously inaudible from the camera’s position focused on Pierre, although humorous comments were plentiful.
In the end, it all amounted to an anecdotal clip featuring Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, and Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez.
