Next season, Lewis Hamilton is set to join Ferrari, and he could be accompanied by Adrian Newey, as it has been confirmed that the renowned car designer will depart from Red Bull.

Lewis Hamilton expressed excitement at the prospect of Adrian Newey joining Ferrari, following confirmation from Red Bull that the veteran car designer will exit the team.

Newey, who has been with Red Bull since 2006, is scheduled to leave in the “first quarter of 2025”. He will reduce his involvement in Formula One, though he will remain engaged with Red Bull’s RB17 Hypercar project until it is finalized.

Sky Sports reported that Newey met with a Ferrari representative last week, and he is primarily interested in joining the Italian team, despite receiving a significant offer from Aston Martin. If Newey were to move to Ferrari, he would work alongside Hamilton.

Hamilton, who announced in February that he would be leaving Mercedes to join Ferrari for the 2025 season, shared his thoughts prior to the Miami Grand Prix:

“Adrian has got such a great history and track record. He’s obviously done an amazing job through his career and engaging with teams and the knowledge he has. I think he would be an amazing addition,” he said, according to Mirror.

“Ferrari have already got a great team. They are already making huge progress and strides, their car is quicker this year. He [Newey] would be a privilege to work with.”

When he was asked how much he would like to work alongside Newey, Hamilton didn’t hesitate: “Very much,” the British Formula 1 driver answered.
