The rumors about Victor Osimhen have been many throughout the last year. One thing is clear: he will leave Napoli this summer. But the big question is what his destination will be.
On the radio show ‘1 Football Club,’ hosted by Luca Cerchione on 1 Station Radio, Albanian agent Serxhio Mezi announced that Victor Osimhen is set to join Paris Saint-Germain, despite interest from Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal.
Osimhen, who renewed his contract with Napoli last December to extend his stay at the Diego Maradona Stadium until 2026, has chosen to depart the Parthenopeans at season’s end.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has made this decision even after a standout season where he was instrumental in Napoli’s Serie A victory in 2022-2023, marking their first league title in thirty-three years with 26 goals and 5 assists in 32 matches.
Chelsea has been scouting Osimhen as a solution to their forward needs but faces hurdles with Financial Fair Play regulations, necessitating the sale of significant players to finance his transfer.
Arsenal, also in search of a prolific striker, finds Osimhen’s €130 million release clause a major barrier. Therefore, they have decided to look elsewhere, which makes a transfer to Premier League difficult for the Nigerian striker.
PSG, looking for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe as his contract winds down amid Real Madrid rumors, sees Osimhen as an ideal successor.
Mezi, quoted by Casa Napoli, confirmed, “The Nigerian will leave, he will join Paris Saint-Germain. I know that Napoli are interested in Albion Rrahmani, who plays in Albania. Furthermore, contacts are registered for Broja. Much, however, will depend on the choice of the player, who would like to land in a big club. Broja was contacted by the director of the Azzurri.”
