Napoli needs to find a replacement for Nigerian Victor Osimhen, who is likely to be sold to either a Premier League club or Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Italian football club Napoli is eyeing a top attacker from Girona as a major summer acquisition. This information comes from Mundo Deportivo, referencing Il Mattino, which reports that Artem Dovbyk has caught the attention of Napoli’s leadership.
Napoli is anticipated to lose their standout player this summer, as Paris Saint-Germain has marked Victor Osimhen as a key target for the upcoming season.
Following a challenging season for both Osimhen and Napoli, it is widely expected that a transfer agreement with PSG will be finalized.
Such a move would create a significant gap in Napoli’s forward line at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The club’s management is reportedly looking towards Spain for a replacement, with Girona’s Artem Dovbyk emerging as a potential candidate.
Dovbyk, a Ukrainian international, is currently the top scorer in La Liga for the 2023/24 season, having netted 18 goals.
With Napoli poised to generate over €100 million from Osimhen’s sale, it is suggested that a portion of these funds might be used to make a bid for Girona’s prolific striker, aiming to bring him to Serie A.
Osimhen has not yet found his new club
Although there are numerous reports about Osimhen leaving Napoli this summer, he has not yet secured a new club.
The Nigerian star has been linked with PSG for several months, as they actively search for a player to fill the void expected to be left by Kylian Mbappe, who is anticipated to move to Real Madrid.
However, a transfer to a Premier League club for Osimhen is still a possibility. He is reportedly on the radar of several top clubs there.
