The French star of PSG has already scored 15 away goals in Champions League knockout rounds. Cristiano Ronaldo leads this table with 23 goals.
Kylian Mbappe crushed FC Barcelona’s European dream in the controversial second leg of the Champions League quarter finals by scoring the last two goals in PSG’s 4-1 victory under Luis Enrique.
Both goals, the first from the penalty spot and the second just before the 90th minute at his leisure after a mistake by Kounde, add to a tasty statistic for the French native.
With his double, the Frenchman surpassed his compatriot Karim Benzema on the list of top away goal scorers in direct Champions League knockout rounds.
According to the Spanish newspaper SPORT, Mbappe has now scored 15 goals playing away from home in the decisive phase of the top continental tournament and is second on the table to Benzema’s 14.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who achieved 23 away goals in knockouts while playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, occupies the top position.
At 25 years old, and given his scoring records, it probably won’t be long before Kylian Mbappe tops that list.
