Victor Osimhen has expressed gratitude towards Napoli’s fans and admitted that he will likely shed tears when he departs from the former Serie A champions.
Victor Osimhen confessed that he will likely cry when he departs from the former Serie A champions, Napoli. The Nigerian international is expected to leave Napoli this summer, although his next club remains undecided.
Osimhen’s contract, signed last December, includes a release clause of around €120 million. The striker has become a fan favorite in Napoli after playing a crucial role in their title-winning campaign last season.
The 25-year-old netted 26 goals in 32 league matches, helping Napoli secure their first championship in over thirty years.
Osimhen, who has praised Napoli’s supporters as some of the best in the world, acknowledged that leaving the club will be challenging.
“For me it’s a fantastic feeling, in some clubs it’s the history that creates the identity, in Naples it’s the fans who make the team what it is. The way they support the team and each player is truly incredible,” he said in an interview with Betsson Sport, according to Daily Post.
“Sometimes I understand why some legends of the past cried when they left Naples, because it is an extraordinary emotion to play in the stadium and hear your name shouted from the first minute to the 90th, supporting the team and cheering.”
Osimhen has not yet announced his future plans, but it is clear that he will leave Napoli this summer. A move to either the Premier League or Paris Saint-Germain appears most likely for the Nigerian striker.
