Chelsea is interested in discussing a potential transfer for Victor Osimhen with Napoli this summer, reports Rudy Galetti.
The west London club has struggled with its attacking options, with Nicolas Jackson notably missing several key opportunities. The team is seeking a reliable striker to boost their chances of competing for Champions League qualification, and Osimhen has emerged as their top target for the offseason.
The Nigerian forward’s current contract includes a €130 million release clause. However, Chelsea is unable to meet this amount in a single installment due to Financial Fair Play constraints. Instead, Chelsea hopes to arrange a long-term payment plan to secure the former Lille striker.
Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is open to negotiations, although he might be reluctant to reduce the asking price. Paris Saint-Germain also holds an interest in Osimhen, but the forward is expected to favor a move to the Premier League.
It won’t be easy for Chelsea
It won’t be easy for Chelsea to secure a deal with Napoli for the sale of Osimhen. The Nigerian striker has a contract with the Serie A club until June 2026, which means they are not compelled to sell him this summer.
For this reason, several Italian media outlets have reported that President De Laurentiis is not willing to negotiate on the price. However, whether he is ready to agree to a more favorable payment arrangement that makes it easier for Chelsea remains to be seen.
As mentioned above, he is also on PSG’s radar, whose financial situation is significantly better. They will say goodbye to Kylian Mbappe this summer, and they bid farewell to Lionel Messi and Neymar ahead of this season, giving them ample room in their salary budget.
