Rafael Nadal has signed up for the Laver Cup. The tennis player from the Balearic Islands will be part of Team Europe in the seventh edition of the competition, which will be held at the Uber Arena in Berlin from September 20 to 22.

“I am very happy to play in the Laver Cup in Berlin for Team Europe. I have some really special memories from my experiences at the Laver Cup, including all the emotions from London two years ago when I played alongside Roger for the last time,” Nadal said, according to Marca.

Nadal will team up with Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Zverev with the aim of reclaiming the Laver Cup for Europe after the last two victories by the Rest of the World team.

“At this stage of my career, I am eager to go out and make the most of every opportunity that comes my way. Being part of a team is always an incredible experience, and I have always enjoyed it; the competition is different and exciting. I am really looking forward to going to Berlin and helping Team Europe reclaim the Laver Cup,” Nadal stated.

This will be Nadal’s fourth appearance in the competition, having previously played in Prague in 2017, Geneva in 2019, and London in 2022, which was Roger Federer’s farewell.

“Rafa is an absolute legend in our sport, a true champion in every sense of the word. It’s my last year as captain. Having him on Team Europe this year was one of my goals, and I’m delighted that he has accepted my invitation and will be with us in Berlin,” pointed out Bjorn Borg, captain of Europe.

The event, which was announced in early February, revealed that it would feature Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, and Holger Rune.
