Will the 2023/24 season be Erik ten Hag’s last as manager of Manchester United? Perhaps not. It could end up being very difficult to fire the Dutch manager.
The pressure on the Dutch football coach is mounting, with constant rumors that Manchester United’s sports leadership is looking for other options in the market.
However, there is one thing that could save Erik ten Hag from being fired this season. At least, that’s what Gary Neville believes, but it would require quite a big surprise.
“They have saved them from massive criticism for four to five weeks. They might get it for a few days, but not for several weeks,” Gary Neville told Sky Sports, according to the BBC.
“These are some uncertain, turbulent months for Manchester United because the new owners have set a completely new top in the club.
“But the importance of winning trophies cannot be underestimated. They won a trophy last season, and if they win the FA Cup, it will be extremely difficult to fire him.”
Last season, Manchester United won the Carabao Cup with a victory against Newcastle. Additionally, the club also lost the FA Cup final to Manchester City.
This season, Manchester City will once again be the opponent at Wembley on May 25th.
Here, Pep Guardiola’s team will be the clear favorite, and Manchester United might need to deliver a big surprise if Erik ten Hag is to avoid a dismissal notice.
