‘Iron Mike’ faces a big sacrifice ahead of his return fight against Jake Paul.

Mike Tyson is taking his return to the ring very seriously, as evidenced by his latest decision. The former undisputed heavyweight champion faces Jake Paul on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (broadcasted by Netflix), and he is putting all his effort into getting in shape.

Mike Tyson’s name has always been associated with marijuana for various reasons. Not only does he own a lucrative business dedicated to the cultivation of this psychotropic, but he also sells various products under his own brand, Tyson 2.0. In this regard, his cannabis-infused gummy ears, which feature a small bite taken out of the top, are famous.

Moreover, it’s common to see him smoking during recordings of his podcast ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson,’ which is now on hold while he prepares for his fight. ‘Iron Mike’ even revealed that he smoked before stepping into the ring with Roy Jones Jr. to calm his nerves.

But now something seems to have changed in the former champion from New York. Since marijuana is on the list of substances banned by the Texas department that regulates combat sports, Tyson has decided to comply with the rules.

Moreover, at 57 years old, what he is attempting might prove more challenging than fighting someone 30 years younger than him.

According to his publicist, Joann Mignano, Tyson “has stopped using marijuana to comply with the rules but continues to be a strong advocate for the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his personal well-being and that of others like him,” she told USA Today Sports.

What remains unclear is whether the fight between Tyson and Paul will be an exhibition or professional match. In the former case, testing positive for this substance would not be an issue.
