There has been much speculation about Xabi Alonso’s future – and it could potentially be with Real Madrid. Not now, but in the long run.
His future has been widely discussed lately. After a remarkable season at the helm of Bayer Leverkusen during which he did not lose a single match, Xabi Alonso led the team to its first-ever German championship title.
Naturally, this has sparked interest. Despite interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, the former midfielder has stated that he will stay with the BayArena residents next year.
However, some are certain that he will sign with Real Madrid sooner or later. The big question is when it will happen. Many are certainly sure that it will happen at some point.
This is also the view of Fernando Carro, the CEO of Bayer Leverkusen, who stated on the Spanish show El Larguero: “I have no doubt. One day, Xabi Alonso will be the coach of Real Madrid. I have no doubt, no doubt at all! The only question is when he will sign with Real Madrid. But it will happen, believe me. I am convinced of it.”
If Alonso continues the great success with Leverkusen, it will naturally lead to even greater interest in the former Real Madrid player.
Therefore, it may be difficult for the Spanish giant to make a deal with him. Likely, there will also be interest in him from top clubs in both the Premier League and Serie A.
In the near future, however, he is not going anywhere, as he has confirmed that he will stay with Leverkusen next season. Thus, he will lead the German club in its attempt to replicate this season’s great success.
