Thomas Tuchel will leave as coach of FC Bayern in the summer. Now, the Munich club has settled on their preferred solution.
Recently, Bild named Julian Nagelsmann as the top candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern. Now, Sky goes a step further, reporting that the Munich club has decided on the national team coach.
Nagelsmann is set to become Bayern coach for the second time. Alternatives were Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton & Hove Albion) and Unai Emery (Aston Villa).
However, talks with Nagelsmann’s side are already advanced. The 36-year-old is open to a comeback in Munich. A contract for three or four years is being considered. In 2021, Nagelsmann had signed for five seasons but was surprisingly dismissed after one and a half years.
Responsible for his earlier dismissal were then executives Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn. Both are no longer in office.
The new sports executive Max Eberl is now actively pushing for Nagelsmann’s return. The leadership of FC Bayern is reportedly united behind the idea of his comeback.
DFB wants to extend
It is clear, however, that Nagelsmann’s future is not yet decided. The DFB intends to extend his contract before the European Championship this summer.
However, the fact that this has not yet happened may suggest that Nagelsmann wants to return to his favorite club this summer.
