The Real Madrid board is working on the idea of signing Florian Wirtz, a midfielder who is having an excellent season with Bayer Leverkusen. The Whites aim to reach an agreement as soon as possible that would allow his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu in 2025.
The man behind 17 goals and 18 assists in the 41 official matches he has played this season, German Florian Wirtz is undoubtedly one of the main reasons for Bayer Leverkusen’s excellent campaign.
Leverkusen has just won the Bundesliga title for the first time in its history and remains alive in both the DfB Pokal and the Europa League.
As often happens in such cases, his sensational performance has not gone unnoticed by the big clubs on the continent. In fact, in recent days, rumors linking him to one of the continent’s most powerful teams, Real Madrid, have intensified.
This is Real Madrid’s strategy
The latest of these can be found in OK Diario. According to the Spanish outlet, Real Madrid have already devised a plan to secure his services. This would involve reaching an agreement now, thanks to which the young footballer (just 20 years old) would land at Santiago Bernabeu in 2025.
“It may be that, like Xabi Alonso, the player holds on for one more season to defend the Bundesliga crown and play in the Champions again, but his departure in the summer of 2025 will be inevitable. That is why Real Madrid aims to secure an agreement with the player and the German club for him to join the Madrid team’s ranks in two summers,” the outlet explains.
The task will not be easy. Especially since other teams of the caliber of Liverpool, Manchester City, or Bayern Munich have also shown interest in signing him and could offer him the opportunity to join their first team this very summer.
Moreover, it seems clear that the cost of the operation could skyrocket to 100 million euros.
