Manchester United is eager to strengthen the squad this summer and is already in concrete negotiations with one of the Bundesliga’s most prominent stars.
Manchester United currently has Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as options for right-back. However, a new signing could become a reality this summer, especially since the latter’s future at the club is uncertain.
Wan-Bissaka’s contract expires in June 2025, and he could be sold this summer, as there are no ongoing negotiations regarding a new deal.
According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, Manchester United is already in concrete negotiations with the newly crowned German champion Jeremie Frimpong.
He has a release clause of 34 million pounds in his contract, which was signed last year. Frimpong started his career at Bayer Leverkusen as a regular right-back, but he has since been upgraded to right wing-back for the club.
This has been the case since Xabi Alonso took over the club 18 months ago, and the club has undergone a remarkable transformation since then.
On Sunday, it all culminated in a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen, which resulted in the German championship being won for the first time in the club’s history.
Frimpong has recorded 12 goals and 11 assists in 37 games this season. The 23-year-old back is considered an upgrade over both Dalot and Wan-Bissaka, and it would be quite a feat for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company if a transfer can be secured.
