Interested in one of the most unique cars in the world? Then you can turn to two-time F1 world champion Mika Häkkinen. The Finn is selling his 2013 ‘Validation Prototype McLaren P1’. There are only seven such cars in existence worldwide. As if that weren’t enough, Häkkinen is also providing the buyer with a spectacular extra.

McLaren built a total of 375 P1 cars, which are plug-in hybrids produced in a very limited series by the British automaker. It’s already unique to acquire one of these cars, but even rarer to buy one from a former F1 world champion.

Häkkinen’s car is also a prototype, one of only seven made and the only one ever auctioned, according to HLN.

The ‘McLaren P1’ from the Finn served as a test vehicle for durability. The sale includes a booklet that McLaren created about the car, featuring test notes and results from all the tests. The car itself is fully customized for Häkkinen. It was his first McLaren ever.

Such details alone can excite the average car enthusiast. Now, to take a look at the price tag. The estimated price before the auction is between 1.5 to 2 million euros. According to specialists, this is a fair market price for a McLaren P1.

But there’s more. To make it a bargain, Häkkinen is adding an extra. In addition to the car, the Finn is including a one-day racing/driving event.

He will teach the buyer how to drive the car at a location of their choice. Learning to drive from a former F1 world champion is quite an opportunity.

Häkkinen, known as the Flying Finn, became the world champion in 1998 driving a McLaren-Mercedes MP4/13. A year later, he repeated the feat in a slightly better car, a McLaren-Mercedes MP4/14.

In total, the Finn drove 130 Grands Prix for the McLaren team. He retired as a driver in 2001, only to return to the McLaren group sixteen years later as an ambassador.
