The legendary boxer, at 57 years old, will fight the YouTuber Jake Paul on July 20th.
At 57 years old, Mike Tyson is preparing to return to the boxing ring on July 20th, when he will face the YouTuber Jake Paul, who is 30 years his junior, in Dallas, United States.
The legendary boxer, who hasn’t competed since he participated in an exhibition match in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr, has been promoting this new fight. Last weekend in Virginia, he took the opportunity to show off his impressive physique.
“I don’t need a t-shirt, I need to show what you are betting on and how well I am doing, look how fit I am!” he said cheerfully to journalists while taking photos with fans at the event, according to O Jogo.
Since his fight with Jake Paul – which will be broadcast by Netflix – was made official, the former heavyweight world champion admitted feeling “terrified” at the thought of returning to action, but he described this feeling as an extra motivation to go through with it.
“I have a strange personality, even if I don’t think so. Whenever I’m afraid of something, I go ahead and do it. That’s how I operate. I was also afraid of the fight with Roy. I was over 40 pounds heavier, 53 or 54 years old, and I said, ‘Let’s do this’. Whenever I’m afraid of something, I face it. That’s just my personality,” he said to Fox News.
“Right now, I’m terrified, but I’ve always believed that adversity and nervousness are what propelled me to success. If I didn’t have these feelings, I wouldn’t enter this fight. I need these feelings to fight, and without them, I would never step into a ring.”
