After ending his career in 2019, Mathieu Flamini dedicated himself full-time to a company related to environmental sustainability, valued on the stock market at more than 30 billion euros.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar are some of the footballers who currently earn astronomical salaries at their clubs, but there’s a retired player who is richer than all three combined.

The Frenchman Mathieu Flamini played for clubs such as Marseille, Arsenal, and Milan, but it was not in the world of football that he built the fortune he now holds.

From a young age, Flamini had two passions: football and sustainability. The latter sparked when he realized the sea needed to be preserved.

In 2010, at the age of 25, he invested in the GFBiochemicals project, aimed at environmental sustainability, focusing on levulinic acid, capable of replacing oil in the manufacture of petrochemicals present in products such as plastics, cosmetics, detergents, lubricants, and pharmaceuticals.

After ending his career in 2019 while playing for Spain’s Getafe, Mathieu Flamini dedicated himself full-time to this project.

Now 40 years old, Flamini holds 60% of the company, which is valued on the stock market at more than 30 billion euros.

According to Forbes magazine, the former French midfielder has a fortune valued at more than 14 billion euros, far surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s 500 million, Lionel Messi’s 400 million, and Neymar’s 200 million.

Although the three football stars have a fortune that is less than Flamini’s, there is hardly any of them who goes to bed hungry. True for all three of them is that they receive an astronomical salary at their respective clubs, Al-Nassr, Inter Miami, and Al-Hilal.
