Max Verstappen: “I Don’t Know Who Approved That, But They Must Have Been Drunk”

Max Verstappen enjoys watching Formula E races but does not see himself competing in the electric class in the future. He also openly wonders who approved the brand-new circuit in Japan.

Earlier this month, Formula E arrived in Japan for the eagerly anticipated first edition of the Tokyo E-Prix. The event was held on a brand-new street circuit located in the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre, Japan’s largest event venue.

From the first practice session to the race, all 22 drivers struggled with the track, which included jumps caused by uneven road surfaces. Max Verstappen finds this baffling.

When asked about his view on the electric class, he said, “What I like about Formula E is that there are quite a few good drivers. You may have raced against them in the past or seen them around, so the competition is very high. A few of my friends also race there, so I always keep an eye on it. It’s not a class I would personally like to race in the future.”

The three-time Formula 1 World Champion then comments on the E-Prix in Japan. “It was really cool to see the circuit in the city, but at the same time, there was a significant jump in the circuit. I don’t know who approved that, but they must have been drunk,” he said, according to GPFans.

“That’s a bit crazy, but in terms of driving and racing… I always enjoy it because the talent level is very high, and that naturally makes it more enjoyable to watch.”

Verstappen himself had great success in Japan, where he won another Formula 1 race. Therefore, he is well on his way to securing his fourth consecutive world championship.
