Everything points to the fact that the successor of Jürgen Klopp has already been decided.
Jürgen Klopp is known to be leaving Liverpool this summer after nine years. Like other top European clubs, including FC Bayern and FC Barcelona, the Reds are actively searching for a new coach.
Leverkusen’s successful coach and former Reds star Xabi Alonso turned down all interested parties last week and will remain in Germany. According to several English media outlets, Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon is now considered to be their top choice.
The 39-year-old has been with Sporting since 2020 and has won the title once so far. Amorim’s attractive style of play has caught the interest of many top clubs. Although he is under contract with Sporting until 2026, he can leave the club for 15 million euros.
The coach himself did not rule out a move recently. “I cannot guarantee that I will stay at Sporting next season. I cannot say it the way Xabi Alonso did.”
This can be interpreted as a clear indication that he is tempted by the numerous offers likely to come his way. In Liverpool, they are said to have a keen interest in him, but the same applies to Barcelona.
