Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has shared grim news for Liverpool fans. One of the club’s big stars won’t be playing again this season.

Joel Matip will not be in action for Liverpool again during this season. Liverpool’s German manager, Jurgen Klopp, confirmed this in a press conference on Wednesday.

Therefore, Matip has played his last game under Klopp’s management, as the 56-year-old German will bid farewell to The Reds at the end of the season.

Matip has been out of action for the past four months after getting injured during the 4-3 victory over Fulham on December 3rd. It was a ligament injury.

Matip had to undergo surgery and has since been in a rehabilitation program. The 32-year-old defender is now back on the grass at the club’s training facility, AXA Training Centre, but he is not expected to return to action this season.

“Joel is running. He hates it, but he has been able to run again, so that’s good. Since the injury, this is the best moment for him, because it was very painful in the beginning. Very painful for him. He got through it, is now pain-free, but now it takes time. I don’t think this season is long enough,” Klopp said ahead of the meeting with Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday evening, according to Liverpool World.

On the other hand, the German Liverpool manager can rejoice that Andy Robertson is expected to be ready for the clash against the newcomers.

He suffered an ankle injury when Scotland lost 1-0 to Northern Ireland last week, and therefore he missed the 2-1 victory against Brighton.
