Manchester United has plans to make a significant purchase this summer, aiming to acquire a player who is also on Real Madrid’s radar.
Manchester United is set to change its approach in the transfer market with the arrival of the club’s new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The plan is to focus on young talent, and Palmeiras star Estevão Willian, nicknamed Messinho, is their new target.
The player is coveted by several European giants, including Real Madrid, but according to the Spanish website Fichajes, the Old Trafford team is preparing its wallet to secure his services. In Spain, he could reunite with his former Palmeiras youth teammate, Endrick.
Estevão is considered a dream target for Real Madrid, which could be thwarted by Manchester United. Fichajes indicates that the Red Devils are willing to make a “staggering” offer.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly ready to put more than 90 million euros on Palmeiras’ table to secure the 16-year-old, according to Fichajes. This price is something that Real Madrid and none of the other interested teams are willing to pay.
For comparison, Endrick was signed by the Spanish club for about 72 million euros at the end of 2022. This would make Estevão the most expensive sale in the history of Brazilian football.
Fichajes also points out that Erik ten Hag is leading the Red Devils’ market operations to bring the Palmeiras player to Old Trafford. Born in 2007, he will turn 18 in April 2025, and has a contract with Palmeiras until 2026.
The Dutch coach is aware of Messinho’s potential and has reportedly asked United’s management to make a significant financial effort to secure his signing. The idea of the new management is precisely to strengthen the team with great young talents.
