At 39 years old, LeBron James continues to make history in the NBA, and this Sunday, he broke a legendary record held by Michael Jordan with the Los Angeles Lakers.
LeBron delivered an extraordinary performance at the Barclays Center, scoring an impressive 40 points to lead the Lakers to a 116-104 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
With this, James broke the record for the most games scoring 30 points or more, a mark previously held by Michael Jordan with 671 games. LeBron has now reached 672 and could extend the lead further in the remainder of his career.
LeBron James also tied two personal records
Additionally, the Lakers’ number 23 tied two personal records against the Nets by hitting nine three-pointers, the highest number he has achieved in a game in his more than 20-year career, and also matched his record for points in a game at 40.
In 37 minutes on the court, LeBron also added seven rebounds and five assists to be named the MVP and secure the Lakers’ 42nd win of the season.
Upon leaving the Barclays Center floor, the historic forward received a tremendous ovation from fans who witnessed pure NBA history.
In the 2024 season, LeBron James averages 25.2 points per game and has scored 30 points or more on 13 occasions. Against the Nets, it was his third game of the season with 40 points.
