The latest blow for Carlos Alcaraz means the loss of a significant amount of money he was aiming for in Miami.
After winning the title and corresponding prize money at the Indian Wells Masters 1000, Carlos Alcaraz aimed to complete the Sunshine Double in Miami and secure a significant sum for his wallet.
Being a finalist or even a semifinalist, as was the case for him in 2023, also awarded a good amount, but Carlos couldn’t find his rhythm in his match against Grigor Dimitrov and exited in the quarter-finals.
Favorite in the betting to win the tournament, Alcaraz’s defeat by Dimitrov was not only comprehensive, but also painful considering the expectations of the Murcian tennis player in the tournament.
The prize for the Miami Masters 1000 is the same as for the Indian Wells Masters 1000. Alcaraz aimed for a total of 1.1 million dollars. This amount ended up being taken by Jannik Sinner, who defeated Dimitrov in the final.
The winner will claim the aforementioned prize, while the runner-up will pocket a total of 585,000 dollars, a lower yet significant amount, superior to the two players who fell in the semifinals of the Miami Masters 1000, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev.
Meanwhile, the tennis players who lost in the quarter-finals, among whom is Carlos Alcaraz, see the Miami tournament prize reduced. In their case, as designated by the official prize purse of the competition, the money to be received by the tennis players is 185,000 dollars.
