Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel made a surprising statement after their latest defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Thomas Tuchel’s team is in a tough spot in the Bundesliga after losing to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night. With seven rounds of the league left, Bayern is 13 points behind Bayer Leverkusen.
First, Karim Adeyemi scored, then Julian Ryerson added a second goal to make it 2-0, securing Dortmund’s first win against Bayern Munich since 2019.
“It’s a great feeling. Cool to take them down here at our own stadium. It tastes a bit extra. I’m very, very happy,” says Ryerson in an interview, according to Dagbladet.
After the match, Thomas Tuchel gave up the fight for the league title.
“Congratulations to Bayer Leverkusen. The title race is over,” the German said.
Although Bayern Munich lost, it wasn’t for lack of chances. Midway through the first half, Harry Kane should have equalized. From 2-3 meters, the Englishman headed the ball over the goal.
“It’s not an everyday occurrence,” commented Viaplay’s Eivind Bisgaard Sundet.
Shortly after the break, it was Dortmund’s turn to miss a big chance. Julian Ryerson found Nmecha inside the penalty area, but Sven Ulreich managed to save it.
Seven minutes before the end of the game, Ryerson shook the powerhouse from Munich. The man from Lyngdal fired from 12-13 meters, making it 2-0 to Dortmund.
Harry Kane thought he had ignited a glimmer of hope for the home team shortly afterward, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
