Numerous people have voiced their dissatisfaction with the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson match, yet Tyson Fury is in favor of it, drawing criticism from Carl Froch towards the champion.
Tyson Fury’s endorsement of Jake Paul’s decision to fight Mike Tyson attracted significant criticism from ex-boxer Carl Froch. The news about the social media star taking on the ex-world heavyweight champion, who is over 30 years his senior, has sparked controversy.
While many have shown their displeasure towards the Netflix-featured fight, “The Gypsy King” Tyson Fury expressed excitement about the event. Froch, however, was not pleased to hear Fury describe Paul’s bout with Tyson as “fantastic for boxing” during an interview with The Stomping Ground.
Speaking with InstantCasinos, Froch responded directly to Fury’s comments. “No, it’s not good for boxing. For Tyson Fury to say that it’s good for boxing… He needs to look in the mirror, have a look at what he’s done,” the 46-year-old stated.
He criticized Fury for supporting the match, urging him to reflect on the sacrifices and efforts of professional fighters compared to Jake Paul’s venture into the ring with Mike Tyson, a boxing legend at 57 years old.
In 2023, Paul and Froch traded verbal insults, with Paul labeling the Englishman “desperate” and Froch threatening to send Paul “into f***ing orbit” should they ever compete.
The tension between Froch and Paul remains, with Froch again voicing his eagerness to set the 27-year-old straight. “He’s an absolute f****** idiot for fighting Mike Tyson,” said the Nottingham-born fighter. “It’s wrong. It should be stopped.”
