Barcelona may not be saying goodbye to Xavi after all. The Spanish club is considering offering him a new role to ensure he stays at Spotify Camp Nou beyond this season.
Barcelona’s coach, Xavi, might continue his association with the club in a different capacity after this season concludes, potentially taking on an ambassadorial role.
Xavi has previously indicated his intention to step down as the head coach after the season, but there are reports that Barcelona is keen on retaining him in some capacity.
Should he decide to leave his coaching position, the club is prepared to offer him the role of ambassador for the Barça Foundation. According to Catalunya Radio, this appointment could be confirmed before the season’s end.
Barcelona’s motivation for creating this new role is to ensure Xavi feels valued by the organization. Although Xavi expressed significant discontent and frustration when he declared his plan to depart, he has seemed much more at ease in recent times.
However, despite appearing more content, Xavi maintains his stance on leaving, even as Joan Laporta, the club’s president, has expressed a desire for him to remain and suggested that Xavi has not yet made an irreversible decision about his future.
However, it appears that Laporta and Xavi do not see eye to eye on this matter. The latter has firmly stated that nothing will persuade him to change his decision.
As a result, the Spanish powerhouse is in need of finding a successor this summer. This is a task they have yet to complete, as they have not yet secured an agreement with a new coach.
