If Novak Djokovic Does This, There Will No Longer Be a Discussion, Says Tennis Star

Novak Djokovic has only one thing left to do in his career if he wants to be sure of winning the GOAT debate, says the Argentine tennis player.

Juan Martin del Potro has stated that Novak Djokovic could definitively resolve the debate about who is the greatest male tennis player of all time (GOAT) with a few more Grand Slam victories. Djokovic currently boasts 24 major titles.

Last year, Djokovic clinched victories at the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open. His only major final loss came against Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon in a memorable five-set match.

Del Potro, the 2009 US Open champion, was present at the Miami Open on March 25, observing the third-round match between Alcaraz and Gael Monfils. After the match, the Argentine weighed in on the ongoing GOAT discussion.

“Novak still has a long way to go, he won more titles than them and it is still being discussed. I believe that if he wins a couple more Grand Slams, there will no longer be a discussion no matter how many fans there are of Roger and Rafa,” Del Potro told the media, according to Sportskeeda.

“Each one was the best in history at different times. In the period from 2006 to 2009 Roger was unbeatable, but if you went to clay there Rafa was the best,” he added.

Rafael Nadal, with 22 Grand Slam titles, remains an active competitor in the sport. On the other hand, Roger Federer has ended his professional career, having collected 20 Grand Slam trophies.
