Bayern Munich has initiated discussions with a new coach to replace Thomas Tuchel next summer. However, securing him from his current club will come at a significant cost.
As Thomas Tuchel’s tenure ends, Bayern Munich is on the hunt for a new head coach for the upcoming summer, with Xabi Alonso, a former player of the club who is currently experiencing great success at Bayer Leverkusen, topping their list.
Yet, another candidate is reportedly in the mix for Bayern Munich.
According to Bild, Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion is the secondary choice, and Bayern Munich has already engaged in talks with the successful Italian coach.
Acquiring Roberto De Zerbi won’t be inexpensive. Recent reports from several English outlets indicate that the Italian has a release clause of 14 million euros.
Currently, De Zerbi is also linked with prestigious clubs such as FC Barcelona, Manchester United, and Liverpool.
Previously, the 44-year-old De Zerbi has served as the head coach for Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Alonso is being considered not only by the German powerhouse but by other clubs as well, raising concerns within Bayern Munich that they may not secure his signature this summer. This situation has prompted Bayern to explore other options.
Although several candidates have been mentioned as potential successors to Tuchel, Alonso and De Zerbi emerge as the most serious contenders. Ultimately, the goal is to finalize an agreement with one of these two coaches.
