Victor Osimhen Close to Agreeing Personal Terms With Huge Club

Napoli’s star player Victor Osimhen is on the verge of agreeing to personal terms with a major club, making a summer transfer even more probable.

Chelsea is said to be preparing to activate the buy-out clause for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, in spite of worries about violating the Financial Fair Play rules set by the English Premier League.

The striker, who moved to Napoli from LOSC Lille for about €75 million, has shown remarkable form in Naples, raising his market value to between €120m and €130m.

Italian reporter Rudy Galetti claims that Osimhen is eager for a switch to Stamford Bridge, according to CaughtOffside.

Osimhen’s potential arrival at Chelsea could significantly enhance their offensive capabilities, particularly given the team’s recent difficulties in scoring goals, despite considerable spending on new players last summer.

Nonetheless, concerns persist regarding adherence to Financial Fair Play standards and whether Chelsea might need to sell some of their current roster to finance a deal for Osimhen.

To mitigate these financial concerns, Chelsea must strategically manage their budget. The club is poised to release their financial statements for the 2022/23 season soon, with projections indicating a shortfall of £37m from the Profit and Sustainability benchmark.

While this suggests a degree of financial health, the 2023/24 season could present more significant financial hurdles. As such, Chelsea’s transfer dealings before the financial year concludes in June could hinge on their capacity to raise funds through selling players.

Disposing of homegrown talents like Conor Gallagher could notably bolster Chelsea’s financial standing since these players incur no acquisition cost, thereby translating directly into profit for the club.

Besides Gallagher, Chelsea may find it necessary to release two or three additional players to ensure Osimhen’s acquisition does not destabilize their financial health.
