Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi recently updated fans through social media for the first time since his injury was announced on March 16.
Since transferring to Nottingham from Union Berlin in the previous season, Awoniyi has established himself as a key attacker, amassing 16 goals and providing four assists across 44 appearances for the Tricky Trees.
Yet, staying fit has been Awoniyi’s most significant challenge at Nottingham. The 26-year-old has faced numerous injuries, sidelining him for a total of 27 matches for Nottingham Forest. This season, he even underwent surgery and only made his comeback in late January.
After participating in nine matches, Awoniyi suffered another injury right before the international break, with Nottingham Forest not yet disclosing the duration of his expected absence. Concerns are mounting that he might be sidelined for a substantial period.
As reported by Soccernet.ng, in his recent post, Awoniyi expressed:
“The Lord has done it, so no one can reverse it! Human troubles cannot hinder the work of my God. Our help is from the Rock. Where He leads us to prosperity. Glory that the world has seen clearly. Goodness shall be our portion.”
Awoniyi has consistently expressed his gratitude towards God for his success, and this latest message follows that pattern.
Last season, Awoniyi was instrumental in the final stages, scoring six goals in the last four matches to secure Nottingham Forest’s stay in the league. With the club facing similar relegation threats this season and nine games remaining, coach Nuno Espirito Santo is hopeful for Awoniyi’s swift recovery to bolster their campaign.
