Cristiano Ronaldo has praised Mesut Ozil on social media, with the former Arsenal and Real Madrid player recently sharing a video that sparked speculation.
Cristiano Ronaldo expressed encouragement for his ex-Real Madrid colleague Mesut Ozil following Ozil’s post of a demanding gym workout video.
Ozil, the ex-Arsenal playmaker who hung up his boots a year ago, shared a video on Instagram in February, showcasing his workout with battle ropes and a weighted sled, emphasizing his fitness routine.
The 35-year-old, who teamed up with Ronaldo at Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, shared the clip with the motto: “Always stay ready, so you don’t have to get ready,” alongside emojis suggesting time and excellence, leading to fan speculation about a potential comeback to soccer.
Ronaldo, now with Al-Nassr, commended the former German international’s dedication in an Instagram comment on Thursday, noting “Bro not bad” accompanied by a ‘winking face’ emoji, despite Ozil’s original post dating back to February 13.
While at Real Madrid, Ozil and Ronaldo played 149 games together, combining for a notable 39 goals and assists.
Ozil has remarked on their on-field connection in the past, noting that facilitating scoring opportunities for Ronaldo didn’t require much effort from him.
“I’ve never seen a person like him. I really enjoyed playing with him because he made me better on the pitch and he’s a great guy off it, too,” Ozil told Arsenal’s official website in 2018.
