Chelsea is reportedly showing keen interest in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon as they aim to add a new forward to their roster during the upcoming summer transfer window.
While Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has been high on Mauricio Pochettino’s wish list, competition from Paris Saint-Germain might complicate Chelsea’s pursuit.
Osimhen’s Napoli contract includes a £113m buy-out clause that any interested club must meet to secure his services.
Due to the challenges associated with acquiring Osimhen, Chelsea has identified a list of potential alternatives, with Gyokeres emerging as a highly regarded option.
Reports from TEAMtalk have previously indicated that Chelsea, alongside Arsenal and Manchester United, are keen admirers of the Swedish striker. Gyokeres has impressively netted 36 goals in 39 matches for Sporting since his transfer from Coventry City for £21m last year.
Securing Gyokeres would also require a significant investment, as Sporting would only consider parting with him if his £86m release clause is met.
The Daily Mail noted that Chelsea scouts observed Gyokeres in action for Sweden during their 5-2 defeat to Portugal, where he continued his goal-scoring form with a 58th-minute goal.
This contribution brings his season’s goal total to 39, including international fixtures, underscoring why he’s attracting attention from several top European clubs.
Gyokeres is prominently featured on Chelsea’s transfer shortlist for the summer, as Pochettino seeks to bolster his attacking options.
