Anthony Joshua has explained why he still lives at home with his mother despite being 34 years old and a multi-millionaire.

A decisive knockout win over Francis Ngannou this month seems to have positioned Joshua for a potential bout against the victor of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s upcoming fight for the undisputed heavyweight title.

Joshua has been working towards redemption following his losses to Usyk in two encounters during 2021 and 2022.

Despite these challenges, TalkSPORT reports Joshua’s net worth to be around £150 million before his match with Ngannou, a fight rumored to have brought him earnings of £40 million.

Moreover, the fighter from Watford shared his thoughts on Good Morning Britain:

“I still live with my mum. I realized that when I started training – which I do away from home a lot – that if I’m away for 10 months of the year and then when I get back I’ve got to do commercial work I realize that if I was to move out I’d never actually see my mum,” he said on Good Morning Britain.

“I’m away in various parts of the world for a lot of the time, but my actual base is at home with mum. So I can still wake up and see her and spend time with her when I can.”

Joshua confessed that his mother finds it too hard to watch him during fights. He shared that she often chooses to stay home, dedicating her time to prayer instead of attending his matches.

He conveyed that she finds it unbearable to watch her son in the ring, lacking any enjoyment in the spectacle. Despite the difficulty, she takes pride in the success that comes from her son’s efforts. Joshua emphasized his deep affection for his mother, noting how he ensures she is well cared for.
