Jake Paul responded to Conor McGregor’s skepticism about the public’s interest in his forthcoming match with Mike Tyson, asserting that this event will be ‘the biggest fight the world will ever see’.
An eye-opening revelation earlier this month disclosed that the legendary heavyweight Tyson, aged 57, would end his retirement to face 27-year-old YouTube star Paul, who is 30 years younger, in a boxing match.
This event is set to occur at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas — the Dallas Cowboys’ home — on July 20 and will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Numerous prominent boxing personalities have expressed their worries about the significant age difference between Tyson and Paul. This week, Tyson’s coach addressed and dismissed doctors’ concerns that Tyson could face the risk of brain injury.
On the other hand, former UFC champion McGregor has mentioned he ‘doesn’t see the attraction’ in this particular fight, despite offering his best wishes to Tyson, who has been vigorously preparing in the gym.
“Oh jeez, it’s a bit strange, you know. The interest is low… I don’t know. I don’t understand it. I wish well for Mike,” McGregor said to The Illuminerdi.
Paul has consistently had to justify his choice to proceed with the contentious bout, even criticizing his brother Logan for calling Tyson ‘too old’ and ‘senile’ earlier in the month.
During his BS podcast, the “Problem Child” targeted McGregor’s remarks, underscoring the evident enthusiasm for his match as opposed to the UFC star’s suggested fight with Michael Chandler.
“So Conor, you’re saying the interest is low for the fight, but the last fight you announced, there was a thousand articles written in a multi-day span, people talking about your last fight,” Paul said, according to Metro.
“In that same multiple-day span, there were ten thousand articles written about this. No fight ever has done these numbers in terms of face-off views and Instagram reels.”
“Just on our main pages alone, it’s like 50 or 60 million Instagram views on both of our posts. Not to mention every single other sports page posting it.”
