Rafael Nadal has recently shared details on his anticipated return to tennis following his withdrawal from Indian Wells.
Rafael Nadal has mentioned he is putting forth his utmost effort to prepare for the start of the clay court season, following a period where injuries and other setbacks have restricted his participation to only one event since the 2023 Australian Open.
After the initial Grand Slam of last year, the player from Spain was absent for the entirety of the 2023 season, making a comeback only at Brisbane this year. Subsequent to his quarter-final exit there, he withdrew from this year’s Australian Open and then from the Indian Wells Masters a fortnight ago.
Now 37, Nadal is focusing on making a return in time for the part of the season he prefers the most, yet he is proceeding with caution.
“I will do my best to try to start the clay season, which is my goal, I am working for that and striving for that goal, but I don’t dare to say anything about what might happen because lately it has been difficult for me to make predictions, unfortunately,” he said before the ceremony of the Second Rafael Nadal Foundation Awards, according to Marca.
“I’ve not stopped training at any time. I’m trying all the time. I feel fine, I just haven’t managed to follow the schedule I would have liked to. Hopefully things can change, but as you can imagine I can’t say because I don’t know myself.”
