David Benavidez is responding to recent remarks made by Canelo Alvarez regarding the possibility of them facing off in the ring.
Alvarez stated to Fight Hub on Tuesday that his condition for fighting Benavidez would be a financial offer ranging between $150 to $200 million. This comes after Benavidez’s camp alleged they had proposed a guaranteed $55 million to Canelo for a potential bout.
“Who is he to offer me money? If he offered the amount he said, I can make that amount with anybody. That’s nothing. He brings nothing to the table for me, just 25lbs more on fight night,” he said, according to Fight Hub TV.
“If some promoter, not him, because he’s nothing to offer me… But a promoter who I work with they come and say I offer to you 150 to 200 million. I fight tomorrow… That’s the only reason I fight with him.”
Benavidez observed Canelo’s remarks and swiftly responded via social media.
“If I have nothing to offer then why are you demanding you get 150-200 million to fight someone who isn’t worth anything? Hopefully after you make that 150 million you have enough left over to buy a pair of nuts,” he said, according to Brobible.
Canelo has encountered criticism for his reluctance to fight Benavidez, and it appears he is not yet ready to yield to the external pressures.
