Conor McGregor Confirms Summer Return

Conor McGregor has yet again confirmed that he’s ready to return to the octagon this summer, but nothing official has been reported by the UFC.

Just a few days after expressing his dissatisfaction with the Ultimate Fighting Championship due to poor communication, Conor McGregor has announced that he has received verification regarding his potential comeback to fighting in the Octagon.

Since sustaining a leg fracture during his third bout against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, McGregor has been out of action. Following his recovery, he engaged in negotiations with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and re-entered their drug testing program in October 2023.

Although McGregor has hinted at various comeback dates, progress appeared to stall during discussions with the UFC. Nevertheless, McGregor has now indicated he will be returning to compete this summer, marking yet another announcement of this nature from him.

“We got confirmation a few days ago that it’s all systems go. And ‘The Mac’, ‘The Notorious’, will be returning in the UFC Octagon this summer,” McGregor told ESPN.

Last year, McGregor took on the role of a competing coach against Michael Chandler (23-8) on ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ with an anticipated match between them set for the season’s end.

However, McGregor seemed to redirect his attention, challenging various other contenders, leaving Chandler inactive since November 2022. Despite recently targeting Poirier and Nate Diaz, McGregor has now verified his comeback will indeed be against Chandler.

“Yeah, it’s Michael Chandler. Shut up, Michael, you fuc*ing imbecile. The man doesn’t shut up. I seen him on ‘Raw’. I like Mike – I’m going to bust him up. I’m going to bust Mike up, yeah? If I say it, I do it. If I say it, it gets done, end of. Put that on my stone. So, Chandler in the summer,” he said.
